Both the Board structure and staffing complement at GEC continues to evolve. Last year, two long time GEC employees, Ron Somers Roseneath Elevator manager, with over 30 years service and Shirley Ramsay, Admin Support Worker at the administration office in Kensington, with in excess of 20 years, retired.
Emmerson McMillan, past president relinquished his role as GEC President, having served two consecutive three year terms. All three were honored in recognition of their retirement at several staff functions held last year. These resulting vacancies are essential positions which must be re-filled.
We welcome Dave Thompson, of Dunstaffenage a long time participant in, and advocate for the agriculture industry, who was appointed by Executive Council to replace Emmerson McMillan as President.
GEC is pleased to report that Derrith MacDougall from Summerside has replaced Shirley Ramsay as Administration Assistant.
It is with regret, that we must report that Joseph Leck has resigned his position as site supervisor for the Roseneath facility. His final day of work will be on March 25, 2011. We wish him well as he has decided to pursue a dairy farming opportunity in Nova Scotia.
Best wishes to Emmerson in his future endeavors. Further staffing changes are ahead and our readers will be informed of these changes through this web page, and other existing media sources.
